The Board of Directors takes responsibility for fundraising. Donations are used to make political contributions to members of Congress who will help advance the issues important to Counselors, such as restoring funding for the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program and the drive to have mental health counselors included in Medicare and be able to practice independently under TRICARE.

The original organizing committee consisted of Bob Walsh, Scott Barstow, Pat McGinn and Mark Pope. The host committee for the organization's first fundraiser, in Kansas City in April, 2004, included: Patricia Arredondo, Bill Braden, Jon Carlson, Dana Couch-Davis, Thelma Daley, Norm Dasenbrook, Rebecca Farrell, Fran Giordano, Sam Gladding, Bill Glasser, Jane Goodman, Carolyn Greer, David Kaplan, Harvey Kelber, Courtland Lee, Lynn Linde, Maria McCabe, Scott McGowan, Bob Nejedlo, Lee Richmond , Howard Smith, Tom Sweeney, Toni Tollerud, Chris Lawson Van Slyke, Gail Wirtz and Richard Yep.
